Lee Man-hee, chairman of Shincheonji, bailed due to disease, appeared at the Suwon District Court in a wheelchair on the 16th.. walked back home
[The Fact|Uiwang and Suwon = Reporter Lee Sun-hwa] The "The Fact" camera captured Lee Man-hee, chairman of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji), walking home alone from the car after attending a hearing at Suwon District Court in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, in a wheelchair on the afternoon of the 16th.
Lee Man-hee, who was recently granted bail due to poor health, attended the 11th hearing of the Suwon District Court at 2 p.m. on charges of violating the Act on the Prevention of Infectious Diseases. Wearing a mask and a hat, Lee quickly entered the courtroom with the help of church officials, apparently unable to move. After the end of the trial around 5:10 p.m., avoiding victim's family, Chairman Lee moved to the car in a wheelchair and get out of the court. Lee, who attended the trial without physical detention four days after his bail was granted on the 12th, looked more uncomfortable on the surface.
However, the situation soon changed when he arrived at my home in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province. At around 6 p.m., a black van carrying Chairman Lee and Shincheonji officials arrived at his home, and Lee got out of the car himself with a cane in his hand instead of a wheelchair. He looked very different from when he appeared in court. Later, Lee began to walk slowly toward his home with a cane. Although assisted by church officials, it did not seem impossible to move. After Lee entered his home, a church official was also spotted moving a wheelchair from the trunk of his car.
When he left the Suwon Detention Center in Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 12th, Lee relied on a wheelchair. On the same day, with the help of a detention center employee, Lee came out in a wheelchair to the front door and remained silent to reporters' questions.

Chairman Lee, who was arrested in August and handed over to trial, applied for bail on Sept. 18, when the trial preparation period was under way, citing old age and chronic disease. Chariman Lee's lawyer asked the court to allow Lee to stand trial on bail at the age of 90 on the grounds that he cannot move his residence alone and that there is no flight risk.
In response, the 11th criminal division of the Suwon District Court decided on the 12th to quote bail on condition of attaching electronic devices, limiting residence, and paying 100 million won (around $90,000) in bail deposits. "There is not much concern about destroying evidence because the hearing has progressed to a considerable extent," the court said, explaining the reason for the bail permit, saying, "There are considerable reasons to grant bail by compiling the records, questioning, and circumstances that have emerged during the trial process, including the sincere attendance at the trial."
Chairman Lee is suspected of conspiring with Shinchenji officials in February to falsely submit a list of believers, a list of worshipers, and the status of facilities to quarantine authorities and destroying related evidence as the number of new coronavirus infections (Corona 19) increased.
He is also accused of embezzling 5.6 billion won (violation of the law on aggravated punishment of certain economic crimes) in the process of building the Peace Palace, Shincheonji training center, and holding religious events at public facilities of the local government from 2015 to last year without approval from local governments.
