Shincheonji and Light Ministry?

 Q

Is a bible study group called light ministry part of the shincheonji movement? I went to a few of their bible studies on my college campus a few years back and I was invited to join a class twice a week. everyone is super nice there and the teachings make sense (they are pretty basic) so far. they use scriptures (lots of them) to back up their points and their teachings deal with discerning worldly leaders from ones that actually are serious about Jesus Christ and going to heaven. I didn't get far in the class at the time but when I was there I did not hear man hee lee mentioned and it was all about Jesus. I tested their teachings using the Bible as a standard and everything seemed in line with it. I have tried to search them up but I can't find information of them I saw that someone mentioned they were but then other posts say they aren't so im not sure.

LIGHT ministry is indeed one of SCJ’s methods of recruitment on campuses. I know because I helped to run a few of them before I came out. Small groups or 1-1 are held 2 times a week minimum, at your convenience most times.

The first lesson is usually about the 4 contents of the Bible, foundation of a life of faith, Basic biblical knowledge, or Religion (re-ligare). H, MT, P and F (if you know what these initials stand for, your bible study is scj).

They have to be nice people because they want to open your heart to lure you in and because the Bible says to be loving to our neighbors. Some people are just really nice though, I have friends whom I still dearly love that are stuck in scj .

they start off with the basics that you may agree with. each lesson are constructed to have you agree to their teachings by mixing basics of Christianity + a little of their own teachings (mixed very cleverly that you won’t be able to discern unless you do read the Bible diligently on your own and do a lot of research). Your small group studies or 1-1 are preparation to have you abide to their teachings and etiquette at the official bible study class. Such as attending 2x a week at a promised date and time to see if you show commitment and are worth spending time on. Things make sense because they use ments (examples) or natural principles of shadows, food, objects, etc to match to their teachings.

they pinpoint verses to back up their claims—however they do not understand the whole context of the Bible. They twist and force match things. Again, it’ll be difficult to discern if one doesn’t read the Bible diligently and do research.

check out Christian Analysis on SCJ Movement website. a lot of SCJ teachings are actually proved to be incorrect. This is part of one’s own job to research and find the truth.

In the NT, The disciples and apostles have recorded how important it is to discern teachings because during the first coming, many people were adding and subtracting from the gospel of Jesus.

If you did take the class until the very end, you would hear about Man Hee Lee. But even before that, some red flag words that show you may highly be in scj bible study are “ New Testament prophecies, parables, secrets, revelation, prophecies and fulfillment, revealed or sealed word, new covenant, discernment (using king Solomon’s time), physical characteristics and spiritual meaning”.

Hope this helps, OP!
