Prosecutors request an arrest warrant for Lee Man-hee

Prosecutors have requested an arrest warrant for Chairman Lee Man-hee today (28th). He allegedly falsely submitted a list of church members and facilities to the quarantine authorities and embezzled about 5.6 billion won in public funds.

Lee Man-hee, who said at a press conference in March that he had sincerely cooperated with the government on quarantine.

However, prosecutors today requested an arrest warrant for Lee on charges of obstructing quarantine activities.

There are three main charges revealed by the prosecution.

He allegedly falsely reported the list of believers and facilities to the quarantine authorities, embezzled 5.6 billion won from Sincheonji and held several large-scale religious events without permission.

President Lee, who has claimed that he has no property at all, said,

[Lee Man-hee/Shincheonji Chairman: There is no room and no land under my name. Ask. I don't have anything.]

However, he was accused of stealing money from his bank account while building the Peace Palace, a training center in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do.

In addition, the fact that he entered Suwon World Cup Stadium without permission and pushed ahead with an international meeting(WARP) of thousands of people even though he was not authorized to do so was the basis for the warrant request for a warrant.

Lee is 89 years old this year, and the prosecutors explained the background of the request for a warrant, saying, "Lee's health did not seem to be difficult to serve in prison."

His arrest will be decided on the 31st.
