Secret meeting places - SBS

The local government searching for the reported secret meeting places of Shincheonji.

SBS News 2020.02.25

Rumors say that the members list that SCJ provided is not complete. In fact, unreported,

secret meeting places are being exposed one after the other. For this reason , the local

government is searching and quarantining these meeting places by following reports or

through its own investigations. We went to see with our reporter Bae Jung-eun.

This building is in Mapo Street, Seoul. Inside, the offices are all closed. There is a sign

that says: Youth Culture Association ngo, but the local government identified this place as

one of those used for SCJ activities.

Shop owner of the neighborhood: “They come for lunch and they talk abot the church or

the Bible. They are young. There are housewives and young people.”

This place was reported to be a meeting place for SCJ Youth Group but the local

government had to confirm through its own investigation due to the urgency of the

prevention measures.

In Seoul Seongbuk-gu there is another building with only a name at the entrance. SCJ

education centres for the preliminary course are closed for the quarantine measures.

Shop owner of the neighborhood: “There is some pastor coming over to speak, they say

some kind of study room. We had no idea it was SCJ. They didn‟t arouse any

suspicion. I was surprised too.”

The problem is that both of these centres are not included in the list of 100 facilities in

Seoul that SCJ delivered to the Disease Control Authorities.

Reporter:“This place doesn‟t appear in the list that SCJ released.”

Do Geun-ho, Seoul City Hall Cultural Policy Division: “No, this place is not included.”

94 sites related to SCJ were reported to the local government, among those 19 have been

confirmed and quarantined.

Yoon Jae-duk, Eschatological Research: “They do not put the sign; so we have to

look for related organizations. In those organizations they are still gathering and doing their

work.”

The hide-and-seek of Shincheonji continues, and it inevitably slows down the prevention

measures.
