As the indiscriminate and groundless attacks on me by the media and the United Party1 are getting worse day by day, it has now reached the Shincheonji to attack me. According to a report by JTBC on July 29, (Shincheonji said,) “We will set up a control tower to launch an online war. Agree to the impeachment petition of Minister Choo Mi-ae and actively share the videos of Rep. Jan Je-won.” It has been reported that they are carefully planning and executing the attack me. I can see that this attack is being prepared very carefully, especially by stressing that "no trace should be left." The video was made three days after Lee Man-hee was questioned by prosecutors.
In fact, after Lee Man-hee was questioned by the prosecution (the press says the arrest will be decided on July 31), more mail than usual began to arrive at the Secretary of Justice's office. The mail sent from abroad and Korea is that the suppression of Sincheonji is unfair. What's unusual is that a letter from a person living in Incheon saying that there was a smear campaign against me in his apartment complex and that he had reported it to the police is coming.(The handout on the page says that it is a specific organization, but the letter refers to it as Shincheonji.)
As the Minister of Justice, I have ordered a thorough investigation into the systematic cover-up and obstruction of epidemiological investigations of the Sincheonji groups at a time when Corona 19 is expanding. This was only natural for the protection of the people and the prevention of the spread of Corona 19. This is a job that should be done as a minister.
I'm trying to accomplish the big task of reforming the prosecution. However, there is constant resistance and attack from the conservative media and the United Party against prosecution reform. Those who oppose to the reform of the president Moon are having an indiscriminate attack against me by using media and opposition party. As policy criticism is not possible, they have not hesitated to attack my family and personal information. That's where religious groups joined.
I need to think about whether we should consider this a mere coincidence or a systematic move.

저에 대한 언론과 통합당의 무차별적이고 근거 없는 공격이 날로 심해지는 가운데 이제는 신천지까지 저를 공격하는 시점에 이르렀습니다. 7월 29일 jtbc의 보도에 의하면 “컨트롤 타워를 세워서 온라인 전쟁을 펼칠 것이다. 추미애 장관의 탄핵 청원에 동의하라, 장제원 의원의 동영상을 적극 공유하라”라는 등 저에 대한 공격을 주도 면밀하게 계획하고, 실행하고 있음이 보도되었습니다. 특히 “흔적을 남겨서는 안된다”라고 강조하는 등, 이 공격이 매우 치밀하게 준비되고 있음을 알 수 있습니다. 이번 방송 영상은 이만희 씨가 검찰 조사를 받은 지 사흘 뒤에 제작된 것으로 보도되었습니다.
실제로 이만희 씨가 검찰 조사를 받은 이후(언론에 의하면 31일 구속 여부가 결정된다고 합니다.) 법무부 장관비서실에는 평소보다 많은 우편물이 도착하기 시작하였습니다. 해외와 국내에서 보내진 우편물은 하나같이 신천지 탄압이 부당하다는 내용입니다. 특이한 것은 인천에 사시는 분께서 본인의 아파트 단지에 저에 대한 비방 유인물이 돌고 있어 경찰에 신고했다고 하시면서 보내주신 유인물 내용과 똑같은 내용의 편지가 오고 있다는 겁니다.(뿌려진 유인물에는 특정단체라고 되어 있지만, 편지에는 신천지라고 언급하고 있습니다.)
저는 법무부 장관으로서 코로나19가 확대되는 시점에 신천지 단체의 조직적인 은폐와 역학조사 방해를 엄중하게 보고 이에 대한 철저한 수사를 지시한 바 있습니다. 이는 코로나19의 위기에서 국민 보호와 코로나19 확산 방지를 위한 너무나 당연한 조치였습니다. 이는 장관으로서 당연히 해야 하는 업무입니다.
저는 지금 검찰개혁이라는 큰 과제를 완수하기 위해 노력하고 있습니다. 그러나 검찰개혁에 반대하는 보수언론과 통합당으로부터 끊임없는 저항과 공격을 받고 있습니다. 문재인 정부의 개혁에 반대하는 세력들은 언론과 야당을 이용해 저에 대한 무차별 공격을 해오고 있습니다. 정책 비판이 안되니 가족에 이어 이제는 개인 신상에 대한 공격까지 서슴없이 해오고 있습니다. 거기에 종교단체가 합세한 것입니다.
이걸 단순한 우연의 일치라고 봐야 할지 뭔가 조직적인 움직임이 있는 것이라고 봐야 할지는 국민들과 함께 고민해 봐야겠습니다.
