A thought on the responses from current SCJ members

 Another member posted about the frustration at the rudeness of current members in their responses. I can easily see from the poster's perspective what they mean, and how it comes across condescending and belittling of another's experiences. I left this comment on their post, but I am copying it and pasting it here for others to see as well as I think it can be beneficial for others to see it. This is just my opinion.

"Some thoughts/analysis. I understand perfectly where you are coming from. You have a right to feel that way, and people should conduct themselves more respectfully.

Having said that, I want to offer rationale for why it happens. For SCJ members...this is the difference between Heaven and Hell. This is eternal damnation on the line. If what is being shared in a forum like this ends up being reality, then these likely fervent believers are going to have strong, strong cognitive dissonance. Because if they are right in their view and this is the fulfillment of the NT, and they fall for "poison" online...then they are as damned as the Jews at the first coming who crucified the Messiah. This is "blaspheming the holy spirit" from their perspective.

So quite simply if they haven't seen perfect evidence like say LMH's death...then how can they walk away? Since they can't walk away without an event of that magnitude then what you are saying in these forums "can't" be true. If it is they have wasted 5, 10, maybe 15 years of their life working a second full time job for a Charlatan. Not only that but they brought in friends and family too. Not only that, but they lost friends and family permanently as well. Not only that but so ingrained is the belief for this being the Truth, that if it fails...for many of them there is no longer any truth. For them they are now agnostic/atheist with no way to trust their own sense of reason to determine what Truth even is. All of the sacrifice would be for nothing. All of the alienated family and friends would be for nothing. Everything they ever believed about anything now becomes suspect as well. They will never fully trust themselves for likely the rest of their life. That way lies madness. That way lies a high chance of suicide. That way lies absolute despair.

So then, when they are facing that...then what people are saying against SCJ cannot possibly be true. It must be false on it's face...or their life is revealed to be a mirage. Please understand the absolute terror that would be for them.

They can never get back the lost time and most of the lost friends.

So when they come at a post abrasively, and aggressively...that is a defense mechanism. The alternative is the crumbling of their reality. That aggression and seeming disrespect is motivated by the greatest possible amount of fear a person can have. The fear of eternal hellfire.

I can liken it only to a mother after finding out that her child is a murderer. They reject the bodycam footage out of hand because..."not my boy...it couldn't be".

I say all this to advocate for grace. Have grace for the former and current members battling this fear. Even the smallest crack in the veneer and reality will completely unravel. Thank you for your time in reading this.
