Even when the Shincheonji Church of Jesus the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji, chairman Lee Man-hee) is closing its doctrine education facilities, it is known that it is focusing on the internal crackdown by changing the doctrine.
According to the announcement made on the 4th by Escathological Bureau (director Yoon Jae-deok) on their YouTube channel, Sincheonji is closing the "Centers", which served as doctrine education facilities and as a base for missionary work, nationwide.
Escathological Bureau said that, "The leadership of Shincheonji is well aware that filling the center with people through the 'concept' strategy is no longer possible in Korea," and, "In this situation, the directors of the centers had to close the centers because the burden of the rent was on them."
Shincheonji has recently revised the doctrine related to the war in heaven described in the Bible's Revelation, and is also working on the internal issues. Shincheonji has so far argued that heaven is achieved through the two wars described in the Book of Revelation.
The first battle is the one between the "first tabernacle and the group of the dragon" in Chapter 13 of the Book of Revelation, and the second battle is the one between "the group of the dragon and the child with his brothers" in Chapter 12. In a recent educational video released by Shincheonji's Internet Zion Mission Center, Shincheonji began to emphasize a third battle in the Armageddon War.
Escathological Bureau criticized that it does not make sense when reading the verses presented by Shincheonji and quoted in parentheses in their context.
Sinchonji introduces the third battle taking as examples the "robe dipped in blood" and the "garment rolled in blood" in Revelation 19:13 and Isaiah 9:5. Escathological Bureau said, "The first represents 'Jesus's clothes' and the second 'the bloodstained uniforms that will burn out in the fire,' and added "these two unrelated passages were mended together only because they have the 'bloodstained clothes' in them, in an attempt to support Lee Man-hee's claim that, 'Jesus also fights at the vanguard in his bloodstained military uniform.'
Escathological Bureau analyzed, "Maybe this doctrine alteration is due to the the internal crackdown and to the fact that Shincheonji got defensive because of the pressures of the domestic public opinion and is openly revealing its antisocial tendency in this escalation of hostility."
Yoon Jae-deok said in a telephone interview with the Kookmin Ilbo that, "This is not the first alteration in Shincheonji's doctrine, it keeps changing," and, "recently an internal notice about 'The Law of the Heaven and the Law of the Earth' has been issued. At a time when the National Tax Service and the prosecution are investigating, it seems to want to convey the idea that Shincheonji believers have to keep their own laws, different from those of the world.
Meanwhile, it is reported that "Saechonji", a group started in 2009 and similar to Sincheonji, has been reduced by nearly half due to internal division.
Escathological Bureau said, "There were concerns that it might emerge as a threatening new religion that could be a replacement after the collapse of Sincheonji, but in the current situation it is not likely."
