On Informed Consent
At the time of bible studies, they told us that it's 8 month and 3 times per week. However, they never told us, in the beginning, about the real name of the bible study, the objectives of the classes, the exact contents/activities involved, the homeroom and catch up classes, tests to pass to next stage, the real qualification and background of the teachers, use and privacy of our personal details, teaching that result in cutting off from family, friends and own church....
Before joining the church, they told us it's Mt Zion, yet they didn't told us, from the start, what kind of life involved in the church: full obedience to leaders, need to evangelise to achieve goals, use of deception to evangelise, compulsory attendance of 2 services a week, join additional group service, attend various meetings in the early mornings or late at nights, serving in the church, sleep deprivation, potential health problems and career and relationship impacts....
They discourage us to access other information and outside supports, leaving us vulnerable and easily being exploited.
Now looking back, they are set ups to "force" us into their church. I really felt betrayed by their wilful deception in the name of God and Jesus...
Are there times in your SCJ life that they allow you to make an informed decision?
What do SCJ teachers think and feel when they intentionally deceive their students?
