John the Baptist baby!
Hi, I have discussed John the Baptist with a couple of former new religion believers. John the Baptizer or JB for short. I was asked to share so here goes.
LMH and Sun Myung Moon both claim JB caused Jesus to fail because JB denied he himself was Elijah but Jesus said JB was.
His whole story is amazing. He is not a betrayer. The all-powerful God told Isaiah that there would be a forerunner to come before and prepare the way of the Messiah. John is a cousin of Jesus because his mother and Mary were related. And, John’s Dad was high priest the year John and Jesus were conceived and JB recognized Jesus while they were both in their respective wombs. John prepared Israel by baptizing people in the Jordan River. He knew that he was the voice crying in the wilderness that Isaiah prophesied more than 200 years before. He recognized Jesus and baptized him in the water and he announced to the Pharisees that the one coming after him he would be unfit to untie his sandal and that He, the Messiah would baptize in the Holy Spirit. LMH is not the Holy Spirit. He doesn’t understand. He doesn’t understand that the original disciples or apostles received the Holy Spirit in the AD 30s and LMH doesn’t understand the prophecy of Joel and JB was then fulfilled.
The Holy Spirit is one of the three in the Trinity of the triune God. According to Jesus, John the Baptist was Elijah And that is true. It’s just that John the Baptist was so humble, he did not want the attention so he focused conversations on Jesus.
It’s also a proof that Jesus is the Messiah so John the Baptist double checked to find out that He really was The Messiah. This checking is another proof that Jesus is indeed the God Man chosen to reign one and only Savior. No one else has a forerunner prophesied hundreds of years in advance in the Old Testament. Not even by out of context proof texting can LMH claim that some guy from Korea or elsewhere from Jesus’ or OT prophecy would precede his 1984 claims.
JB fulfilled his mission in one way because the disciples learned about the messiah from him. JB said he had to decrease and he did. Jesus increased and His Kingdom grew and grows.
That’s right! He was not a betrayer.
Tl;dr
Again, he was symbolically Elijah in that OT symbolic prophetic way and Jesus confirmed it. John deflected it because he was humble and unworthy as he put it to untie the Messiah’s sandals. JB would never distract from the Messiah by touting his own credibility. He knew that it was his mission to be the Isaiah voice crying in the wilderness to prepare their hearts for the chosen one. Others might then excel because they knew the resurrection was a fact and saw and heard and touched the risen Christ and received the Holy Spirit in the third decade of the first century. No one can be a Jesus or pseudo Jesus without a JB.
