Former Shincheonji instructor withdrawal press conference: "Shincheonji doctrine is false."

2012-01-26   CBS TV Press reporter Choi Kyung-bae

Mr. Ji Myung-han: "A doctrine that changes at pleasure depending on the circumstances cannot be true."

An ex believer that used to be an instructor in the Shincheonji cult, held a press conference on the 26th titled "Sincheonji teachings are false". This because the doctrine of Shincheonji, that changes at pleasure depending on the circumstances, can not be true.

Mr. Ji Myung-han, who intervened in the press conference, introduced himself saying that he joined Shinchonji in 2001 and served as a precinct manager, teacher, evangelist and senior manager of the Ministry of Education for more than a decade. He has also served as an instructor in the James tribe in Busan until recently.

Mr. Ji, who used to teach the doctrine of Shincheonji, withdrew from Shincheonji because of his doubts about the doctrine and its frequent changes.

Mr. Ji Myung-han( Shincheonji ex-member,former Shincheonji instructor) said: "The main reason for me to leave Shincheonji was that the truth does not alter, but Shincheonji's doctrine keeps changing. This aroused doubts and internal conflicts that became an opportunity to open my eyes".

Mr. Ji introduced several cases in which the doctrine of Shincheonji, which he believed to be true and taught, has been changed surreptitiously, and he added that the doctrine of Shincheonji is completely false.

In particular, he said that the doctrine of the "great multitude in white'' is preposterous. Shincheonji teaches only 144 thousand people can obtain eternal life but the term "multitude in white" was introduced to describe those that join Shincheonji after the 144 thousand have been gathered.

According to Mr. Ji, Shincheonji used to teach that the``great multitude in white'' can only be achieved after a thousand years, but a reversal of this statement came from the Education for the Instructors of the 12 Tribes held in the Daejeon Church on December the 26th 2008: they declared that, in addition to the 144 thousand, they also have eternal life, which led to the conclusion that there is no difference between the “multitude in white “ and the “144 thousand.'' He also said that, according to the original interpretation of the Book of Revelation, Lee Man-hee and other key figures in Shincheonji would never die. But then, the death of one of them served as an opportunity to revise the whole doctrine of Shincheonji."

Mr. Ji said with regret: "I was so resentful about how pathetic and foolish I was when I taught such a false and absurd doctrine without ever confirming it."

Mr. Ji pointed out that Shincheonji has been carrying out various deceptive evangelism strategies in the name of the “plot'' and that the representative examples are the voluntary organizationMannam'' and the camouflage media companyChunji Ilbo.''

Mr. Ji added, "Anyone in Shincheonji knows that those participating in the Mannam events are the believers of the 12 tribes of Shincheonji, and that Cheonji Ilbo make Shincheonji believers subscribe and use it to promote Shincheonji." Mr. Ji said that he wants to apologize and ask for forgiveness to all those people that have been harmed by Sincheonji and he added that, from now on, he will be on God's side, not on Satan's side.

He also cautiously advised that the Korean Church cannot overlook the fact that it has lost its evangelical and moral strenght and that almost all of those who fall into Shincheonji are members of orthodox churches.

Meanwhile, the Korea Christian Heresy Counseling Association, which hosted the press conference, said: "Shincheonji is continuously filing complaints about 'coercive conversion and confinement,' but this is not true" . And added: "The Heresy Counseling Association makes it clear that it does not counsel Shincheonji believers without their consent."
