Trust that your encounter helps others and thanks for sharing.

I almost got caught up in the Word of Life Theology School which I believe is part SCJ and Unification Church/Moonies. Why Moonies? Because I googled, shortly after my encounter, and learned Ted H. Moon is President of WLTS @ https://www.corporationwiki.com/p/33ed73/word-and-life-theology-school A coincidence?

Here's my experience in a nutshell:

  • I was approached by mother and daughter team (both of whom were Korean) while shopping in the mall, in mid-October 2019 *RED FLAG*

  • Well dressed, polished, and "super friendly", the daughter asked if I knew the meaning of "thanksgiving" and" harvesting". After giving my response as an avid Bible reader and Christian since birth, the daughter proceeded to recite parables from the Bible with a challenging undertone, as the mother stood by smiling as she "spoke little English" *RED FLAG*

  • They invited me to attend a "free seminar" in Fullerton, CA the following Saturday and asked for my number so they could send a flyer with address info. The daughter then asked to take a "group selfie" so she could remember my face and find me during the service *RED FLAG*

  • Upon arrival, there seemed to be more than 1000 people, of all ages and nationalities, meeting and greeting on the lawn outside the auditorium. "Free" snacks and drinks were served. Initially, I was afraid to partake, but after seeing others indulge, I picked up a plate of chips and cookies and a drink handed out by the "super friendly" staff *RED FLAG*

  • As the crowd lined up to enter, approximately 15-20 young Korean men and women were sitting behind desks with laptops asking for full names and email addresses of all attendees. Since there were many "overseers" ensuring everyone "signed in", I figured I'd give my contact info and would block later, if necessary *RED FLAG*

  • While seated, the daughter/mother team texted me so they could join me in "seminar" which was filled with singing, rejoicing, preaching, biblical skits, and ended with marketing of WLTSs "free bible school" *RED FLAG*

  • After the 2+ hour "seminar" the duo insisted that I "register" for the Bible classes although I made clear my hectic work schedule. The more they pushed, the more my "this is too good to be true" antennas went up *RED FLAG*

  • I received a thank you text that same day and for several days thereafter insisting I sign up before bible classes "fill up", attend small bible study group sessions, etc. *RED FLAG*

  • To investigate WLTS before making further contact with the duo, I watched all of their "teaser" YouTube videos; videos on Korean cults such as the Unification Church, SCJ, etc; and googled/discovered WLTSs President is Ted H. Moon. That's all I needed to know and blocked their number!!!

  • Several weeks later, during the 2019 holiday season, I was at the same mall dining in the food court when a young Caucasian woman who appeared to be in her early 30s, made eye contact with me. As she approached and began spewing similar "cult crap" as the duo, I asked her "do you know who Ted H. Moon is?" As soon as she said "Hmm, no I'm sorry I don't", I said "Hmm, sorry I'm not interested in Word and Life Theology School and have enlightening day!"
