Sydney, Australia - Secretive Korean Bible Study

I’m not sure if this is a right place to write this, but I need some help desperately. My bf who from a non Asian background, has been attending a Korean bible study course for a year now, every Tuesday night, Thursday night and Saturday morning. Now they have service on Sunday too. The class used to be somewhere around town hall Sydney now they moved to central. The people from the studies contact him frequently and do catch up with him at least once a week. He told me if he skip one of the classes, they will be very angry.

He has been told not to tell anyone about this course at the beginning of the course and he can’t disclose anything they discuss in the course, including his family, friends and gf. He can only discuss his issues with the teachers but not anybody else. And recently he needs to take some exam regarding the bible study.

I’ve been trusting him for a year now but we sometimes fight about it because I believe we should able to tell our partners everything if they want to know. But lately he become more defensive and I started searching online, I found ppl talked about Shincheonji. I asked my bf if he heard about this before and he said no.

Anyone thinks this is strange? I need more info. Has anyone come across this?
